The last pump in our series is a do-it-all pump with all of the bells and whistles. The Crank Brothers Power Pump Alloy is a mini pump that’s at home both on the road and on the trail. Not only does this pump accept both presta and schrader valves, but it will inflate both high pressure and high volume tires. On the bottom of the pump is an innovative switch that allows you to choose which inflation setting you need. Use the high volume setting to inflate the bulk of the tube and then switch to the high pressure setting to reach your desired PSI rating.
Though it’s a small pump, its alloy barrel is sturdy enough to inflate a tire well above 100 PSI. Unlike the other pumps we have reviewed, this is the only pump with a built-in gauge. No more will you have to settle for “good enough to get me home.” With the Power Pump Alloy, you can be confident your tires are inflated properly.
Another benefit of this pump is its mounting bracket. The bracket encloses the head of the pump; keeping dirt and debris from prematurely wearing out your pump. In addition, the bracket allows you to store a glueless patch kit right alongside your pump.
GBL Last Word: At $38, the Power Pump Alloy is the most expensive pump we reviewed. Given its many features, however, anyone looking for a jack-of-all-trades pump will not be disappointed.
