Sun Valley, Idaho, is a fabled destination for both winter and summer sports — the mountain biking opportunities include great near-to-town trails and miles backcountry singletrack. Looking to increase the variety of its summer offerings, the Sun Valley Resort plans to redevelop the lift-accessed mountain bike trails on Bald Mountain and has retained IMBA to assist.

Julian Tyo, Dollar Lift Operations Supervisor for the Sun Valley Resort, said, “The resort has the potential to bring a new generation of mountain bicyclists into the sport, and we hope to do this with the provision of high-quality beginner and intermediate gravity flow trails.”

IMBA’s Trail Solutions program will lead the redesign of existing trails and the design of new trails, in preparation for opening the improved trail system in 2012. “We are proud to continue our relationship with the Sun Valley Resort to help create world-class riding opportunities,” said Chris Bernhardt, Director of Consulting Services for IMBA. Trail Specialist Randy Spangler will lead the design work, with assistance from Trail Specialist and long-time Sun Valley resident Chris Leman. Read more about their trail building chops.
