32 0

The National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) President and New York City Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan will join U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and others Tuesday, Aug. 30 to announce the print release of the Urban Bikeway Design Guide, a state of the practice resource for designing and engineering bikeways in U.S. cities. Officials will also underscore the need for Congress to prioritize funding for infrastructure in the nation’s largest cities, better enabling them to invest in innovative transit, bike and pedestrian projects to create more sustainble, livable, healthy and economically competitive cities. The Guide was first available online only beginning in March, 2011: www.c4cguide.org and www.citiesforcycling.org.

Bikes Belong granted $25,000 to this Design Guide project in 2010, and also provided guidance through our Bicycling Design Best Practices Program.
