The sixteenth couple to roam the nation with the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew program has begun their two-year tour. Jake Carsten and Jenny Abraham hail from Austin, Texas. They will spend the next 24 months living out of a Subaru Outback while leading trail work sessions, meeting with land managers and working with IMBA-affiliated chapters and clubs.

The Trail Care Crew program, supported by Subaru since its inception in 1997, is now in its 15th year and remains one of IMBA’s most popular and successful initiatives. Jake and Jenny replaced Chris and Leslie Kehmeier, both of whom have joined IMBA’s Trail Solutions team.

Jake and Jenny both bring extensive training and mountain biking backgrounds to the crew. They love educating and empowering mountain bikers, from teaching sustainable trailbuilding and advocacy techniques to improving riding skills. Together they founded the company Dirt Dojo to leverage their individual level-two instructor certifications from IMIC (International Mountainbike Instructor Certification).

The couple also have extensive experience as small business owners, master trainers and project managers. Jake comes from a Fortune 500 company, where he led corporate trainings. Jenny holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. Jake is also a board member to Project LOOP, a non-profit enterprise focused on providing educational and career experience opportunities to high school kids.

Jake and Jenny began their tenure with a vist to Pittstown, NY, (near Albany) with the Saratoga Mountain Bike Association. They will spend their first six months on the road in the eastern half of the U.S. Follow their progress by checking out the Trail Care Crew schedule and by tuning in to the TCC blog.
