Nicole Duke running away from the field

The fine folks at Raleigh put on a pretty fantastic show last week with their Midsummer Nights Cyclocross Race at Deer Valley in Park City, Utah.

We were treated to Belgian waffles with lemon curd and raspberries, ice cold PBR and a very tall leprechaun who managed to not only forget his shirt but that sequins and unicorns should only to be worn if you actually plan on racing… all part of the entertainment I suppose.

More importantly, this was a real race with very real prizes.  For the second year running, Raleigh ponied up a serious prize purse including a sponsorship contract for the first elite men’s and women’s finishers.

Congratulations to our friend Nicole Duke of Boulder, Colorado for taking the win for the ladies.  Look for updates from Nicole on Girl Bike Love as she prepares for the season and offers her best tips for racing cyclocross.

Although Ryan Trabone, one of my favorites #guyswelovetocheer took the win in the men’s race, Allen Krughoff, also of Boulder, walked away with the contract.

But perhaps the best education we received from this early season race was a fine performance from our friend Stevil Kinevil on proper knucklebell technic.

Cyclocross is coming...

Big thanks to Kevin Timmerman at Raleigh for putting this little beauty together.  See you at the races!
