Tori’s Tips :: Bike Cleaning 101 – Suds It Up

.
A bucket of soapy dish water, large sponge, dish brush and hose (on a low shower setting) are all you need to keep your frame shiny and new. Keep the bike rubber side down and pay special attention to the rim’s braking surface. By Tori Bortman – Gracie’s Wrench, Portland, OR

Don’t Be Such a Girl :: Joining the Group Ride

.
I’m a girl. And I’m proud of my femininity. I love being around strong women who have managed to blend brains with a pink shade of soft. One of my riding buddies, we’ll call her Holly Bail Bond, is a real life Stephanie Plum. She has hauled some scary dudes to court and she owns a 9mm handgun. Way cool. But you’ll never see her without lipstick. I love that. So I’m not about to go hatin’ on girls but [...]

Things Your Bike Shop Probably Didn’t Tell You: Sex in the Saddle and Other Unmentionables

However, to my parent’s dismay I truly hope I never lose this addiction. I discovered mountain biking three years ago. This was the pivotal point of my life where I found the true definition of happiness, facilitated by two wheels, crammed into borrowed toe numbing shoes, all while ignoring a non-union fractured leg. I [...]

Top 5 Tips for Being a Bike-Packing Chica

.
Just about two weeks ago, I finished the Colorado Trail Race for the second time. The race consists of 470 miles of unsupported, non-stop racing along the Colorado Trail from Denver to Durango. It took me 5 days and 5 and a half hours.  Twenty-four hours faster than I did it last year. It’s a race that has an attrition rate of over 50% and brings grown men to tears.  It’s brought me to tears more than once. In perusing the internet, I’ve [...]
