Taking Life By the Bars - Monika, Tori, Sarai, Mandy, Kristen and Kate

Lean In :: Take Life By the Bars

.
We have been watching as the Lean In movement is gaining momentum and grabbing the attention of women worldwide.  A platform for encouraging women to achieve their goals, Lean In is more than an idea but also online community giving women a place to come together, learn, and share. We are often faced with challenges that make achieving our goals more difficult, sometimes seeming impossible.  It is easy to get distracted by everyday expectations.  Sometimes days, weeks, months go by [...]

Shebicycles :: Riding Toward Year-End

.
Hard to believe it is December.  Even harder to believe when the temperatures are in the 70′s (F). Christmas decorations are on mailboxes, trees and houses as we pass by … in shorts and short sleeves. The Sandhill Cranes have started to arrive on their annual migration.  Many of them won’t even continue on to places further south; huge numbers are now wintering here at our nearby Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge. Don’t Be Such a Girl :: Joining the Group Ride

But you’ll never see her without lipstick. I love that. So I’m not about to go hatin’ on girls but [...]

My home has a rich history of cycling culture. There are cycle clubs still going here, nigh on a hundred years old. My Dad used to tell me tales from the 1950s of cycle tours and time trails, almost everyone would have had a locally built, custom bike. Roads would have been almost traffic free. I think of it as a golden age of cycling. I live in The Pennines, the backbone of England. Here we have hills and rain. [...]

Tool Tuesday :: Shimano Chain Tool

.
Cyclists often talk about what they’ve upgraded on their bikes. From derailleurs to wheels, everyone can agree that it’s nice to have the latest and greatest. One thing you don’t hear as often is “I’ve upgraded my tools.” With bicycle components changing all the time, it’s good to have the right tool for the job. That’s why the Shimano TL-CN27 Chain Tool is a must for anyone with a 10-speed drivetrain. New drivetrains have more gears than older ones and [...]
