Is the Terra Core Worth it?
As a former professional coach, I’ve had the opportunity to review and use a whole heap of different home gym equipment and gadgets.
The Terra-Core is an excellent example of what can be done when quality design meets functionality and practicality. At $199, it’s right in the sweet spot price range where it’s not too expensive and not too cheap. With all that being said, it’s like anything else in life; you’ll get back as much as you put in at the end of the day.
If you’re a beginner to the
What is the Terra Core & How it Works?
A balance trainer that doubles as a fully functional bench. It partners seamlessly with dumbbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, TRX, and all other fitness accessories.
The Terra Core has a futuristic style, and at first look, you’d be excused for having no idea what it actually is. The most accurate description of the Terra Core would be comparing it to a large Bosu ball, with one primary difference; the Terra Core offers much more in terms of training versatility.
The Terra Core is a bench and then a stepper at the same time; I know what you’re thinking; how can that be? That’s the beauty of this ingenious design; it allows for plenty of variety in training exercises.
The Terra Core website describes it as a “multi-faceted, core builder with air-filled comfort.” The Terra core is flat on one side, with the reverse side being inflated with air. The air-filled side demands plenty of balance from the user, which promotes an overall challenging workout.
You might actually recognize the Terra Core because, in 2019, it was featured in the popular TV show Shark Tank. Remarkably, the company was offered $300,000 by Lori Greiner to help further market the Terra Core to the rest of the world.
How does the Terra Core work?
The magic of the Terra Core really lies in the air-filled side of the machine. The air encourages and promotes the user to engage multiple muscle groups to stabilize themselves and stay balanced while performing movements. The dichotomy and contrast of utilizing both a hard and soft surface allow the user to gain results safely and effectively.
The company has also had independent studies done on the efficiency and effectiveness of the Terra Core. The results showed that the Terra Core engages four times as many muscle groups as identical movements performed on flat surfaces. Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t know many companies that offer conclusive study results on the effectiveness of their products; it’s a win-win!

The inflated side of the Terra Core also includes handles that allow the user to perform a variety of different movements, such as an overhead press, squats, or even bent-over rows. The Terra Core even includes hooks so you can attach additional equipment like Therabands and other resistance bands to improve your strength.
As a professional coach, I can tell you that one of the most underrated ways to improve strength and conditioning is by incorporating balance and stability exercises into your program. Having a rock-solid core is fundamental for good posture and helps mitigate the chance of any severe injury.

Overall, the Terra Core is an awesome little piece of gym equipment but as with any
Terra Core vs Bosu Ball: How Do They Compare
There’s no doubt that when researching stability and balance trainers, you would’ve come across a piece of
The simple answer is no; the Bosu ball is specifically designed to be used for core and stability balance, while the Terra Core is more of an allrounder when it comes to the amount and type of training programs and exercises you can perform.
In my opinion, the Terra Core is a much more versatile piece of equipment than the Bosu ball, but that’s not to say the Bosu ball doesn’t have its place. But if you’re looking to take your
Terra Core Benefits
Improves balance and stability
The Terra Core does an excellent job of improving your balance and stability by using the air-filled bag, which places a heavy demand on your core muscles. Your mid-section is targeted and kicks into action to try and stabilize your body as you perform each of the movements. You can also step on and off the bag, which helps improve balance and stability, both crucial in maintaining correct posture.
Fat loss
Fat loss, yes, that’s right, fat loss. The Terra Core requires a good amount of cardiovascular
Convenient and easy to use
The Terra Core is easy to move because of its small and lightweight size, meaning you can take it on holiday or even to your office. Its small size lets you hide it away pretty much anywhere, and you don’t need a lot of space when working out.
Build muscle
Want to build muscle and look good for summer? The Terra Core emphasizes bodyweight movements that make it perfect for safely and effectively building muscle. No heavy-weight plates to load on and off. The air-filled side of the Terra Core requires extra balance by using your core, so the humble pushup, for example, is made much tougher.
Terra Core On-Demand: Using the Terra Core App
The Terra Core takes advantage of the latest technology and offers users a mountain of high-quality training programs. The company even provides free online content on platforms like YouTube, but the app is the way to go if you’re after the maximum results.
Using the app is intuitive and straightforward, and it’s clear to see that

The number of exercises that the Terra Core offers is impressive, and the quality of videos and delivery is second to none. There’s plenty of exercise for everyone too, ranging from beginners to advanced users, so you’ll find something for everyone.
Priced at $19.99 per month or $149.00 for the year, the Terra Core app is super affordable, and for what you get, the value for money is pretty incredible.
You’ll find exercises such as:
- Lower body
- Upper body
- Core
- Sculpting and even
- HIIT workouts (High-Intensity Interval Training)
You’ll even find some yoga and prenatal workouts in there, which is a nice added feature and shows you that the company has put a lot of thought into the programs.
Every video includes a detailed summary of the duration, goals, difficulty levels, and equipment you’ll need to complete each workout. The app does an excellent job of demonstrating the movement first before going into further detail.
The biggest downside is that although you can get a 14-day trial, you will need your credit card to register and sign up; again, if you don’t want to pay for the app, you’ll find plenty of free exercises online.
What Exercises/ Workouts Can You Perform with the Terra Core?
There’s no shortage of exercises you can perform on the Terra Core, and this is one of the primary reasons it has so many positive reviews among verified users. Many people are looking for a full-body workout without going to the gym, and the Terra Core offers just that.
You can target your lower or upper body, and you can even target your abs which makes this machine extremely versatile. Many pieces of gym equipment are “isolation” machines meaning you can only target one muscle at a time, like when doing a bicep curl; the Terra Core, however, can literally do it all.
Exercises you can perform with the Terra Core are
- Squats
- Balance and stability
- Lunges and twists
- Core workouts and leg lifts
- Push-ups
- Overhead press and bent over rows
- Lower body, upper body
You can even get creative and use other equipment while working out on the Terra Core, like kettlebells, dumbells, and medicine balls. These additional tools make an already challenging workout even tougher.

What Muscles Does the Terra Core Work with?
When it comes to the muscles involved in using the Terra Core, the full-body gets a complete and total workout; that’s the beauty of this system.
Because the Terra Core has a flat side coupled with an air-filled side, various muscle groups are engaged due to the balance and stability needed to perform the movements. Obviously, balance plays a critical role in reducing injury, improving posture and has the added benefit of making you look great at the beach in summer.
Primary muscles groups used:
- Core
- Obliques
- Hamstrings
- Quads
- Lower back
- Upper Back
- Arms and shoulders
Your legs also get a great workout as they too play an essential role when balancing your body weight. It’s pretty amazing how many muscles are targeted for such a small and lightweight piece of equipment.
Terra Core vs Terra Glide: What’s the Difference
When it comes to looks and style, both the Terra Core and the Terra Glide look remarkably similar, almost identical, one might say; however, at closer inspection, there are glaring differences between the two models, and for a good reason. They’re both priced at a reasonable $199.00 and come fully equipped with a flat hard side and an inflatable air-filled side.
The Terra Core and Glide both come equipped with comfortable handles and hooks for resistance bands for an added feature. Both pieces of equipment encourage strength and conditioning while improving your balance and stability, and both target your core, so what’s the difference, you’re asking?
A balance trainer, Ab-roller, & weight. Perfect for crunches, burpees, Planks, & agility work. Built for commercial use, it partners seamlessly with dumbbells & medicine balls.
Well, The Core is quite a bit heavier than the Glide, weighing in at 39lbs compared to the Glides 19lbs. The dimensions and footprint are also quite different, with the Core measuring 46.6″ x 18.31″ x 6.5″ compared to the Glides 24″ x 15″ x 7″.
However, the main difference is that Glide has wheels which are where it gets its name from, as it quite literally, “glides” across the floor. What the wheels do is effectively turn the Glide into an ab-roller which is perfect for those looking to strengthen their mid-section with targeted workouts and difficulty levels that exceed the Terra Core.
In this case, I can genuinely say one is not better than the other; it’s just a matter of understanding your training and

This is great for my core, and it was easy to set up and use. The instructions and tips are comprehensive and helpful. I would definitely recommend it.”
Shannon, another verified user, and purchaser said, “I am beyond happy with my purchase. The Terra-Core makes working out fun! Kay said, “I wish I had done more research on using this. There are workouts online and on their app, but it’s just not worth buying for a novice like me. I would rather use my yoga ball than use this.”
And finally, Elisabeth commented, “I Used this product at the gym and with COVID haven’t been able to go, but now I have my own, and I love it.
