We live in a constantly evolving, modernized society. Changes in transportation, workplace, and technologies have made everyday living a lot easier. But, it’s also made us significantly lazier. Sitting at a desk all day is becoming the norm, and increasing work hours make it difficult for people to add physical activity into their day. Fortunately, Cubii has designed a range of under-desk elliptical trainers to help us exercise while working.
Cubii under-desk elliptical trainers are quiet and compact pedal machines that burn calories, strengthen, and tone, all while you sit down. Cubii Pro and Cubii JR1 are Cubii’s most popular products; also a new entry from Cubii has just arrived: the new and improved JR2. But how do they differ?

Key Differences & Similarities Between Cubii Pro, Cubii JR1 and Cubii JR2
Detailed Comparison
At first glance, it isn’t easy to distinguish between the Cubii Pro, Cubii JR1 & JR2. They all have the same low-impact ergonomic design and the same dimensions. Additionally, all 3 models have 8 levels of resistance. In terms of movement functionality, they’re both pretty much the same.
Performance Tracking & Connectivity
The Cubii Pro is an upgraded version of the Cubii JR1 & JR2, which explains why the design is so similar. However, unlike the Cubii JR, the Cubii Pro is compatible with a variety of mobile apps to help you track and share your progress. The Cubii Pro connects to the Cubii app via Bluetooth (available on iOS and Android) to track calories, strides, miles, minutes, and RPM. You can then sync your workouts to other apps such as FitBit and Apple HealthKit to contribute to your daily health goals. The app also allows you to set personalized targets and compete with Cubii-ers worldwide – great if you thrive in a competitive environment.

Unfortunately, the Cubii JR1 & JR2 do not come with Bluetooth technology to connect to your smart devices. However, you can still track calories, strides, miles, minutes, and RPM on its built-in LCD monitor. The data is collected in real-time, which allows you to monitor your current exertion levels. Of course, it is possible to record the analytics from each session manually, but it will not be saved automatically to your device – like on the Cubii Pro.
Design
Like we’ve mentioned, there’s not much difference in design between the Cubii Pro and Cubii JR1/ JR2. Apart from the LCD monitor, they are pretty much the same. However, the style of each product differs significantly. The Cubii Pro is available in neutral tones of noir and chrome. The colors are sleek and sophisticated but lack character. The Cubii JR1 tones are a bit more out there. Available in purple and turquoise, they add a bit of fun to the style. Although they’re catchy on the eye, they’re not everybody’s preference and can be harder to work into a scheme. The new JR2 comes with a nice green & black combination.
Power Supply
Both Cubii models require a different power supply. The Cubii Pro requires a mains power supply so you can activate the Bluetooth, which can be quite inconvenient if you’re not near a socket. The Cubii JR1/ JR2, on the other hand, is battery-operated, making it more accessible. The power does not prevent you from using the machine but will influence calorie, stride, distance, time, and RPM tracking.
Price
Finally, price is a significant difference between the Cubii models. The Cubii JR1 retails at $249, Cubii JR2 at$289, whereas the Cubii Pro will set you back $349. One major factor contributing to the considerable boost in price is the Bluetooth technology available on the Cubii Pro. The ability to connect to your device is beneficial if you want to keep track of your progress and compete with your peers. However, if the cost is a major influencing factor, the Cubii JR1 is definitely the more economical option.
Unique Features
As we have already mentioned, Cubii Pro is the only Cubii that can connect with various apps such as Cubii, FitBit, and Apple Watch via Bluetooth. On the other side, Cubii JR1 is the cheapest one while Cubii JR2, for a little more bucks, offers a 25% lighter construction, a 10% more compactness, and a pair of built-in adjustable foot straps.

Cubii Pro, JR1 & JR2 Alternatives
The Cubii Pro and JR1 aren’t the only under desk ellipticals available on the market. If the Cubii products don’t take your fancy, here are some quality alternatives.
- Stamina Inmotion Elliptical
- MagneTrainer-ER Mini Exercise Bike Arm and Leg Exerciser
- Wakeman Portable Exercise Bike

Top-rated mini strider. The Stamina In-Motion is portable, quiet, and efficient, making it easy to use and transport at home or in the office. You can adjust the tension by turning the dial and see your stats while exercising.

If you’re looking for a full-body exerciser, the MagneTrainer-ER is your answer. The Cubii products provide a good core and leg workout but don’t help your upper body. With the MagneTrainer-ER, you get the best of both.

We really like the Cubii products, but they do come with quite the price tag. If you’re looking for something more affordable, the Wakeman exercise bike is a great option. For just $26, you’ll receive adjustable resistance and an electronic display on your bike. The Wakeman bike isn’t as smooth or low-impact as elliptical trainers but can be a suitable trade-off for the significant price drop.
Verdict: Which is the best for me?
There’s no denying both the Cubii Pro, Cubii JR1 & JR2 are fantastic products and a great addition to any
Sure, the Cubii JR2 isn’t compatible with Bluetooth technology, but you can still view your data in real-time on the LCD monitor. We don’t think the addition of the Cubii app is worth the extra $80 for the PRO.

Have you any information on the cubii total body? Is it worth the extra money?
Hi Jane!
The Cubii Total Body+ is the newest Cubii model on the market. The main advantage is that it delivers a total body workout experience with the addition of an ergonomic pulley system of a rowing machine. The Total Body + also includes Bluetooth connectivity to the Studio + app. Additionally, this model offers twelve magnetic resistance levels, the most provided by any Cubii model.
If you want to work also your upper body, then we think that is worth the extra money. If not, the Cubii JR & JR2 are just fine.
