In recent years working out from home has become increasingly popular, and with the current pandemic, many people have turned to home gyms.

Most home gyms consist of rowers, expensive treadmills, smart trainers, and spin bikes. But there’s one piece of equipment gathering popularity, the Cubii Elliptical. Ellipticals are ideal for those who want to work out at home, are undergoing rehabilitation, or hoping to supplement with additional steps.

Cubi has developed four models.

  • Cubii JR1
  • Cubii JR2
  • Cubii Go and
  • Cubii Pro

Today we are taking an in-depth look at the Cubii JR2. We’ll look at the pros and cons, price, functionality, practicality, and verified customer reviews.

Let’s get started.

Convenient and Easy to Use

Are you someone who dreamed of being able to burn calories while sitting down? Well, the Cubii JR2 might be your savior. The Cubii elliptical allows you to work out while tracking important workout data like steps, calories, active time, and distance.

The Cubii has eight resistance levels, which means any person of any level can find a resistance level that suits their needs. Cubii claims that the JR2 helps users expend five times more energy than similar ellipticals.

Build Quality

Have you ever heard of glass-fulled nylon? Well, you have now. The designers at Cubii have utilized the latest in high-tech materials and manufacturing processes to build a lightweight and robust fitness device.

The JR2 is 25% lighter than its predecessor, thanks to the glass-filled nylon material. With a nifty built-in handle, transporting the JR2 is convenient and straightforward. Most importantly, the ZeroGravitii Flywheel, designed explicitly by Cubii, provides users with a smooth and silent operating experience.

Adjustability and Ergonomics

The Cubii JR2 separates itself from the pack with its fully adjustable foot straps. This is an exceptionally well-thought-out feature and will come in handy for family members with varying foot sizes.

The straps help support your feet, which means your pedal stroke becomes more efficient and powerful. Mechanically the JR2 has also been upgraded and provides a wonderfully comfortable feel.

Cubii App and Studio

Unbelievably, the team at Cubii has worked tirelessly with some of the best app designers and personal trainers in the world to develop their very own Cubii Studio. Signing up grants you access to on-demand and even live exercise sessions, all of which are designed and delivered by expert fitness coaches.

cubii app

There is something for everyone regarding exercises programs, with sessions ranging from 5 to 30 minutes across various workout intensities. I say unbelievably because an app of this quality is typically associated with spin bikes or smart trainers with price tags in the $1000s range.

Things I liked:

  • Straightforward for anyone to use
  • Ideal if you find yourself sitting a lot
  • Excellent for those undergoing rehabilitation
  • Easy to store under the coffee table or sofa
  • Very affordable compared to a spin bike or rower

Things To Consider:

  • The range of motion is limited compared to other machines
  • Variety in exercises is minimal

What Are The Customers Saying?

Before spending your hard-earned cash on home fitness equipment, it’s essential to do some research. One of the best places to start is checking reviews from verified customers.

  • Jessica, a verified purchaser, had this say about her Cubii JR2. “I’m enjoying my Cubii JR2! It fits perfectly under my desk, and I enjoy pedaling throughout the day. And it’s quiet! So lovely to be able to work out while being primarily stationary. After a few days of using it, I was even hungrier because I burned calories! It’s a great little machine“.
  • Marsha, a verified buyer in the 70+ age bracket, purchased the Cubii JR2, hoping it would help her rehabilitation. Marsha listed her goals as improving flexibility while getting stronger and losing weight. Here’s what she had to say “it met all my fitness needs and was very easy to put together.”
  • Elaine said, “I give this only an “OK” since it developed a clicking sound after one weeks’ use; in addition, I started with the highest strength from the beginning. No, where to go in power, just time”.
  • And finally, James, a verified buyer, said, ” The Cubii JR2 was very easy to set up and included great instructions. We can keep up our walking exercise even in stormy weather. Outstanding versatility with the various resistance settings. I would definitely buy it again.”

So as you can see, overall, the Cubii JR2 is a solid elliptical machine that meets your fitness needs. It’s simple to set up, and the instruction manual is clear and concise.

How Does The JR2 Compare With Other Cubii’s

With four different models, it’s critical to understand how the Cubii JR2 stacks up against the other models in the Cubii range.

  • In contrast, several key differences separate the JR2 from the JR1, the most obvious the upgrade in resistance. The JR2 receives what Cubii calls a “ZeroGravitii” flywheel, making for a smooth, almost silent training experience.
  • The Cubii JR2 also steps up to the plate and supplies users with fully adjustable foot straps ideal for family members with varying foot sizes. No other models in the Cubii range have this well-thought-out feature.
  • Similar to the JR1, the JR2 comes equipped with an LCD screen, a nonslip mat, a complimentary 7-day subscription to the Cubii Studio, and batteries included.
  • In terms of specifications, the JR2 is considerably lighter than the heaviest model, the Cubii Pro, with a 4.5kg differential which is quite notable. The JR2 also takes a much smaller footprint than the three other models in the Cubii lineup, making it ideal for those with limited space.
  • And finally, although it’s subjective, in my opinion, the JR2s funky green color gives it a sleek modern look, and the neon green light that’s embedded in the flywheel really tops it off.

Alternatives To The Cubii JR2

As far as alternatives to the Cubii JR2, it’s pretty hard to go past the DeskCycle. Although the name suggests cycle, this fabulous little elliptical has rave reviews online.

Whether you want to use it at home, the office, or burn some additional calories, the DeskCycle will get the job done. With adjustable leg settings up to ten inches, you can use it standing or sitting.

The DeskCycle uses the latest magnetic resistance system, which provides an almost silent and silky smooth workout experience. The magnetic resistance provides an impressive 40lbs or 18kgs of force, incredible for such a small device. When you consider the DeskCycle delivers more than twice the resistance compared to cheaper ellipticals.

Perfect for

  • Working from your desk
  • Working out while reading a book
  • For those recovering from injury

Sunny SF-E3872

The Sunny elliptical is designed and manufactured by the Sunny Health and Fitness company. Ellipticals are generally small and have a reputation for not being very reliable, but this is not the case with the Sunny SF-E3872.

As with the DeskCycle, the Sunny elliptical uses the latest magnetic resistance technology to provide a good workout for your upper and lower body. Amazingly this nifty little device even comes with a built-in hand pulse system that helps to monitor your heart rate. The Sunny SF-E3872 has eight levels of resistance which is more than enough to deliver anyone a good workout.

The elliptical also comes fitted with a mini screen that helps track workout data such as speed, calories, distance, and elapsed time. With a max user weight of 280lbs or 127kgs, which is astonishing considering the petit size of the Sunny, this is one elliptical that serves as an ideal alternative.

Perfect for

  • Working out from home
  • Burning additional calories
  • Seniors or those undergoing rehabilitation

Maybe you’re not the type of person who has the time for working out daily by spending hours and hours in the gym; if that sounds like you, then the Cubii JR2 is a perfect option.

Not everyone loves to run, ride or row. The Cubii allows you to keep moving, burn calories while working, and still stay productive. The Cubii JR2 is one of the best little elliptical machines on the market, and you won’t be dissatisfied.
