Is Power10 Elliptical Rower Worth it?

The Power10 Elliptical Rower is not your conventional rower, and if you ask some hardcore rowing athletes, they might say it’s not even a rower at all. The Power10 Elliptical Rower requires you to both push and pull, which is the reason the purists say it’s not a rower.

I disagree with them; I believe it is a rower; it’s just a new and exciting way to perform rowing.

Teeter has really developed a rowing machine that provides a total body workout and can even build muscle. The Power10 Elliptical Rower has seven levels of resistance, meaning anyone of any fitness level can find their sweet spot.

Is it worth it? I think so, but keep reading on and find out more on my detailed Power10 Elliptical Rower review; this way, you can make your own informed decision; after all, you’re looking for the right machine for you!

Pros and Cons

The Power10 Elliptical Rower is one of the best hybrid rowing machines on the market, if not the best. With seven different levels of resistance, fully adjustable handles, and comfortable seating, this trainer is well worth the money. The handles set it apart from other brands and help to keep your back and neck in correct alignment when training.

The adjustable handles also target different muscle groups such as biceps and triceps; you can do this by simply twisting or flipping the handles. The low-impact nature of the movement is probably the most significant advantage and benefit over traditional rowers. The magnetic resistance system is stealthy silent too.

But as with most things, not everything is perfect. The two-year warranty is far from adequate, in my opinion, and the machine is rather bulky, which is fine if you have space but not great for those living in smaller apartments.

Things I liked:

  • Wide range of seven fitness levels
  • Quiet and smooth magnetic resistance system
  • Ergonomic seat with supportive padding
  • TeeterMOVE App is free of charge
  • Fully adjustable handles allow for workout variety
  • Easily stores away
  • Sturdy and solid machine

Things To Consider:

  • Some users complained about the seat missing a little more padding
  • The machine itself is very large and takes up quite a lot of space, so make sure you do your measurements before ordering
  • Not the best machine for those looking for pure rowing

Is An Elliptical Better Than A Rowing Machine?

If you’re looking to lose weight, then both the elliptical and the rower can help you achieve that goal. The real question is, though, not which is the better piece of fitness equipment but which is the one best for you?

As a professional coach for more than 20 years, I love both the rower and the elliptical because they provide the user with a low-impact yet challenging workout. People that are returning from an injury or undergoing rehabilitation will find great benefits using both these machines because they continue to increase fitness levels but do so in a way that reduces the chance of further injury.

In my expert opinion, the rower does offer a more challenging cardio workout, and the rowing movement hits the whole body and challenges the muscular system in ways the elliptical cant. However, the elliptical is ideal for people suffering from pain and is an excellent alternative to traditional exercises like running and cross-fit.

At the end of the day, both machines will help you reach your goal; both provide low-impact and challenging workouts safely, efficiently, and effectively. I enjoy the rower much more than the elliptical, but that’s just me; what about you?

Hybrid Trainer and Rower

The Power10 Elliptical Rower is not your traditional rower. Many purists steer clear of it but let me tell you, they’re making a big mistake. This machine does much more than a rower and provides a full-body workout targetting a wide range of muscle groups.

It’s perfect for cardio and muscle-building workouts and does in a low-impact and pain-free manner.

Build Quality and Durability

The Power10 Elliptical Rower utilizes the latest magnetic resistance technology, which means the rower is silent and smooth. You’ll find seven levels of resistance, so people of all fitness levels should be able to find the right challenge.

Because the machine uses magnetic resistance, none of the components touch each other, making the rower extremely smooth, silent, and, most importantly, durable.

Metrics and Data

The Power10 Elliptical Rower tracks all your critical training data effortlessly, and although the display is not as “high-tech” as some other brands, it gets the job done. You can track calories burned, time, and distance, and even track your heart rate using the Polar Telemetric Heart Rate Transmitter.

Comfort and Styling

Who wants to pay hundreds of dollars for a fitness machine that is uncomfortable and ugly? Well, the Power10 Elliptical Rower is the exact opposite. It is stylish and comfortable and lets users work out for long periods in complete comfort.

teeter power 10 seat and pedals

The grips are rubberized, allowing you to hold the handles and push hard without feeling pain in your hands or wrists. The rubber grips also keep your hands from slipping and injuring yourself. The seat is super comfy and does an excellent job aligning your posture, helping alleviate pain and reduce the chance of injury.

The Power10 Elliptical Rower has a maximum user weight of 300lbs or 136kgs and a height allowance ranging from 4’8″ to 7’0.″ The handlebars are also fully adjustable, which further adds to the comfort and allows you to target different muscles without worrying about injury or discomfort.

Small Footprint

Despite being a large machine, the team at Teeter has done an excellent job at creating a space-saving design. The Power10 Elliptical Rower folds away easily and can be stored standing upright in the corner of the room.

teeter power 10 wheels

The Power10 Elliptical Rower also comes with two wheels to make moving easy. Still, I would mention the rower’s weight is 180lbs, so it may be difficult for some users to move by themselves. In this situation, I recommend asking a family member to help you move the machine; the last thing you want is an injury.

TeeterMove APP

One of the best additional features that the Power10 Elliptical Rower offers is free access to the companion app. The app is full of instructional videos that take you through each of the exercises step-by-step. The videos have been designed and delivered by world-class fitness instructors and are clear and easy to follow.

You’ll find exercises and workouts for all fitness levels, so finding the right training session is stress-free, pain-free, and, most importantly, costs you nothing.

Warranty

The warranty is the one area I feel the folks at Teeter could drastically improve. Many fitness brands and manufacturers offer five and even 10-year warranties, so for Teeter to provide a one-year warranty is sub-par, in my opinion.

Teeter Power10 Workouts

The Power10 Elliptical Rower is one of the most versatile machines we’ve ever reviewed when it comes to workout variety. The hybrid design between a rower and an elliptical machine allows you to target your entire body.

The Power10 Elliptical Rower also gives you the option of focusing on building muscle or working on improving your cardio levels. The seven resistance levels mean even the strongest athlete can get a challenging upper and lower body workout.

One of the best ways to utilize the Power10 Elliptical Rower is to implement a training strategy called HIIT or High-Intensity Interval Training. Simply choose a resistance level that you can perform for between 15 and 30 seconds non-stop. After you have completed the 30 secs, take one minute to rest and repeat the process again. The beauty of HIIT is you choose how long to work out but keep in mind, generally, HIIT should be no longer than 15 minutes.

Muscles you can target are:

  • Chest
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Back
  • Shoulders and
  • Core

Not interested in building muscle? No problem; Choose an easier resistance level and transform the Power10 Elliptical Rower into a cardio and fat-burning beast. Because the rower utilizes every muscle in your body, your ability to burn fat is significantly boosted; and remember, you can do all this in complete comfort.

Not sure what type of training you should perform? Simply take advantage of the TeeterMove App, which is jam-packed with high-quality training programs for users of all fitness levels. The app is particularly beneficial for beginners, and the exercises are simple yet practical and challenging; and remember, the best thing about the app is it’s free.

Teeter Power10 vs. Concept 2 Rowerg

Best Air Pick
Concept2 RowErg (Known as Model D)
4.9

The best-selling rowing machine in the world for over 40 years. Used by elite athletes for competitive training, the versatile Model D fits in as well in fitness facilities and home gyms as it does in boathouses around the world.

Amazon Reviews Buy from Concept2

Comparing the Power10 Elliptical Rower against Concept2 is really relatively easy; why you may ask? Well, that’s because although both are rowers, they’re two completely different types and serve two completely different roles.

The Power10 Elliptical Rower is much more than a  traditional rowing machine and has fully adjustable handles that allow you to work a number of different muscle groups that the Concept2 cant hit. The Power10 Elliptical Rower is smooth, silent, and offers a challenging workout yet is still relatively low-impact, meaning you can row daily if you like.

The Concept2 is, in many experts’ opinion, the best traditional rower ever manufactured. Its been around for decades now and is still one of the most popular machines in any fitness gym. If you love old-school traditional rowing machines, then you’ll enjoy training on the Concept2; it’s loud, clunky, and old-fashioned; but that’s why people love it; the rowing experience is as close to lifelike as you can find.

Teeter Power10 vs. Hydrow

For those of you who haven’t heard of the Hydrow, you must be living under a rock. The Hydrow is quite often thought to be the best rower on the market; with its futuristic styling and use of the latest technology, the Hydrow is hard to go past. Priced at a whopping $2,495, the Hydrow Rower is for the hard-core fitness fanatic, and at that price, you better make sure you’re using it every day.

The Power10 Elliptical Rower, on the other hand, targets a different type of fitness junkie and offers more of a total body workout compared to the Hydrow and Concept2. The seven resistance levels help to make the Power10 Elliptical Rower a complete workout trainer and allow users of all fitness levels to find their perfect resistance.

As with Concept2, the Power10 Elliptical Rower and the Hydrow rowers serve different purposes. Be sure to ask yourself your fitness goals before spending your hard-earned cash, especially considering the Hydrow is nearly $2,500.

What Do Customer Reviews Say?

One of the the best ways to evaluate any piece of indoor gym equipment is to look at what the customers are saying. The following are quotes from verified buyers; we’ve included good and bad to give you an honest evaluation.

Dan from the USA said, “Soon as I saw this, I had to have it. So I purchased the Teeter Power 10 about 2 months ago. It is an awesome exercise machine. It’s quiet, well built, easy to use, and will kick your butt. This machine is for all ages, whether you’re an athlete or not.”

Ma from Boston was disappointed and said, “Super loud and clunky. Front-wheel makes a constant loud banging noise right out of the box. Shifter does nothing at all. Levels 1-7 are exactly the same. They play loud music in the demo video to block it put. I can’t hear the music over the banging. I wanted to like it, but it’s a terrible machine.”

Finally, Ryan from California had this to say, “If you’re on the fence about the Power10, I recommend you just go for it — Teeter stands by their product, and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. You will be worked hard and see results, and you don’t even need to commit more than 20 minutes a day to really do some good for your body.”
