C7 Pros and Cons

The Bowflex C7 offers users a fantastic range of features. We have selected only a handful of features to share but wanted to note that this is not a complete list of what this cycle offers.

Things I liked:

  • Streaming Services: Due to the integration with Bowflex’s JRNY app, you can enjoy various cycling apps, including Peloton, and streaming services while riding the C7. This helps to keep you wanting to ride and decreases your bike turning into a coat rack.
  • 1-Year JRNY App Included: Most companies offer a 7-day or 14-day trial for their cycling platforms. With the purchase of the Bowflex C7, a one-year membership to Bowflex’s JRNY is included. The expanded membership trial provides plenty of time to see if you enjoy this application.
  • Excellent Construction: The design quality of this bike is exceptional. In addition, the commercial-grade materials help to provide an incredibly sturdy ride.
  • Dumbells Included: Three-pound weights are included in the purchase of this bike and are located under the handlebars.
  • Heart Rate Armband Included: A Bluetooth heart rate armband is included that easily pairs with several applications.
  • Price: Coming in, usually, at under $800, the C7 offers a wide variety of features often associated with higher-priced indoor cycle options.

Things To Consider:

  • Memberships Required: Although there are multiple streaming and app options available, they require additional memberships, which has the potential to become rather expensive. For example, the JRNY app is $19.99 per month after the 1-year free trial.
  • Seat: Since the seat is a competitive style, the silhouette can be uncomfortable for new riders.
*Remember to check your bike set up as this can improve how comfortable the seat feels, and cycling shorts or gel seats are also options to enhance your riding experience.
  • Location of Weights: The locations of the dumbells would be better if they were placed under the saddle.

How it Compares to the Bowflex C6 / Schwinn IC4

The Bowflex C7 is almost identical to the Bowflex C6 and Schwinn IC4 except for one significant difference. The bike components are the same for these models except for how they both track metrics. For example, the C6 and IC4 include a digital console. In contrast, the C7 offers a 7” Wi-Fi-connected touchscreen that helps connect to your favorite streaming services and cycling apps. Please look at the comparison table below to see how these models compare.

Mechanics & Detailed Specs

Construction Quality

The construction quality of the C7 is excellent. The sturdy frame allows for stability during even the most vigorous rides. In addition, the aluminum frame can accommodate riders up to 330 pounds and a height range of 5’1”-6’5.”

Connectivity

The connectivity of the Bowflex C7 is one of the most important features this model has to offer. So whether you want to take a scenic ride, desire to join a live workout, or want to enjoy one of your favorite streaming services or cycling apps, the C7 has the capability.

JRNY

With the purchase of the C7, a one-year subscription to Bowflex’s JRNY app is included. This application allows the bike to link with various streaming services, including HULU, Disney+, Netflix, HBO Max, and Prime Video. As long as you have an account, you will be able to link these streaming services through the C7’s HD touchscreen.

The JRNY app offers adaptive workouts that increase in intensity as you continue to get stronger. Another unique feature of this platform is the real-time virtual coaching that helps riders strive to reach their goal. In addition, you can explore the world with a scenic ride in over 50 countries or choose from an instructor-led class from the on-demand library.

Cycling App Integration

With a tablet or smartphone, riders can enjoy their favorite third-party cycling apps such as Peloton and Zwift. In addition, through Bluetooth connectivity, cadence and power metrics can be transmitted to compatible apps.

Resistance & Drive Systems

This model offers 100 levels of magnetic resistance. The C7 also includes a belt drive system. This combination of resistance and drive system will require less maintenance over time.

Monitor

A 7” inch HD Touchscreen is included in the construction of this bike. The monitor does require a Wi-Fi connection to function.

Pedals

Whether you own a pair of cycling shoes or prefer to ride in your regular sneakers, this indoor cycling bike offers both toe cage and SPD pedal options.

Note: If you plan to ride often, we highly recommend investing in a pair of cycling shoes to increase your workout output and decrease the chance of injury.

Seat and Seat Cushion

A padded race-style saddle comes standard with the C7 for maximum output in the saddle. In addition, a race-style saddle is a little more narrow than other seat options as it provides a more successful pedal stroke.

Handlebars

The handlebars are curved for maximum comfort and include convenient water bottle holders.

Portability

Transport wheels are located at the front of the bike for easy mobility as this cycle weighs 111 pounds. The dimensions of the C7 include 48.1″ L x 21.3″ W x 57.5″ H.

Adjustability

The saddle and handlebars offer four-way adjustability, meaning that they can move front, back, up, and down. Four-way adjustability is excellent for riders closer to 5” and over 6” as they can find a comfortable riding position.

Assembly and Setup

If you are looking to assemble the C7 independently or with one other person, you can expect it to take approximately an hour. If you are not interested in building this cycle, Bowflex offers professional assembly for $129. The White Glove Service will come to your house and assemble the bike in whatever home location you select. This service will take less than an hour to complete. Once your bike is connected to electricity and Wi-Fi, the touchscreen will be available for manual workouts or the JRNY app.

How Do I Connect My Bowflex C7 To The Peloton App?

peloton classes

Connecting the C7 to the Peloton app is simple. However, it is essential to remember that the Peloton app will not be located on the monitor itself, but a tablet or smartphone will be needed to access this application. Follow the steps below.

  • Step 1: Open Peloton App
  • Step 2: Click on the class of your choice
  • Step 3: Click the heart rate icon on the right side of your tablet or smartphone screen
    Step 4: Select cadence
  • Step 5: Select your bike model

Note: Power and cadence are available for specific devices. Remember, distance will only display on the C7 touchscreen.

Bowflex C7 Common Issues

The bike issues that some riders experienced are very similar to those of the C6. These included some pedal and crank arm issues. Also, a small selection of riders had difficulty getting their Tourshcreens to connect to the Wi-Fi.

What Do Customer Reviews Say?

The C7 is rated 4.7 stars out of 5 by reviewers. Purchasers rave about the excellent bike design and the versatility of their workout options. Many C7 purchasers describe their riding experiences as “amazing” and  “indoor cycling is no longer boring.” Some riders, however, expressed that the seat was a little uncomfortable.

Where to buy Bowflex C7 Bike

Bowflex.com is the best place to purchase this bike if you live in the U.S. Bowflex delivers within the United States but does not deliver to U .S. territories, P.O. boxes, or internationally. Although Bowflex does not ship internationally, Canadian residents can order the C7 through Amazon.

Warranty and Return Policy

Warranty Policy

The warranty covers the frame and any mechanical issues for three years. In addition, labor and electrical issues are covered for up to 12-months.

Interesting fact: The C6 is almost identical, and that frame has a ten-year warranty.

Return Policy

You may return your bike up to 6-weeks from the date you receive it. However, before shipping your bike, you must obtain a return merchandise authorization (RMA) number from Bowflex for your C7 bike return to be accepted. This includes that your bike must also be post-marked within 2-weeks of receiving your authorization number.

Wrap it up: Is It Worth it Instead of The Bowflex C6?

Whether or not the C7 is worth the investment instead of purchasing the Bowflex C6 will vary from person to person. If you are someone that wants a wide variety of activities and platforms you can use while riding, then the C7 might be worth it.
